The ice skating rink at Young’s Park is all set up. All that’s needed now is a stretch of ice skating weather. Dennis Webb with the Knoxville Street Department tells KNIA/KRLS News that the sand bags have been placed, concession stands are up, and everything is good to go right now at the rink. This year, the rink has been placed on asphalt in the park rather than on the grass. Webb says that idea came after seeing Apple Valley, Minnesota’s ice skating rink. Webb says that once the forecast shows a few days in a row where temperatures are below freezing, they’ll get the hose out and water down the rink to let it freeze.
