Mark Doland, a resident of Oskaloosa, announced his candidacy for the newly created Iowa State Senate District 40 seat earlier this week. He has worked on several Republican campaigns in Iowa, In 2008, he served as Danny Carroll’s campaign manager, and more recently he helped Michelle Bachmann in the southern area of the state. He has worked at the Christian Opportunity Center in Pella, and has served as Director on the Fremont Community School District Board of Directors. Doland tells KNIA/KRLS News that he was born and raised in Iowa, and has spent many years working to help families. The new Iowa Senate seat was created after the 2010 Census, and includes the Pella and Oskaloosa area. Doland isn’t the only person to announce candidacy for the new state senate seat; Ken Rozenboom, Republican Mahaska County Supervisor recently announced he would be running for the position.
