State Representative Jim Van Englenhoven tells KNIA/KRLS News that now that the first week is out of the way, the legislative session can really get going. Van Englinhoven says that the fist week of any legislative session is mostly used to organize the legislature, and for state representatives to get acclimated with staff again. He tells KNIA/KRLS that the upcoming mental health care reform proposals he has seen could hurt rural residents, and he plans to keep services as local as possible. Senator Paul McKinley says that he’ll help ensure there is focus on creating business in the state. The 2012 state legislative session enters its second week Monday.
