[simage=5446,200,y,left] Former Knoxville City Manager Dick Schrad tells KNIA/KRLS News he wants to focus on education during his run for the Iowa Senate. Schrad, a Democrat, feels that in particular, the state can improve in getting students ready to compete in a global market place. He notes that it’s important for people in Iowa to be able to grow businesses that can compete globally, but they need well-trained employees in order to do that. Schrad says the state needs to continue to improve the public education system, as well as economic development strategies. KNIA/KRLS will host a candidate forum in May before June’s primary.
