State Auditor David Vaudt has released his findings from a specially requested audit of the City of Melcher-Dallas. The audit covers a three year period starting in July 2007. Vaudt says during that time, former Melcher-Dallas Deputy City Clerk Patricia Ripperger deposited around $8400 worth of city utility collections into her personal bank account. Vaudt says that money has since been recovered. He also reports Ripperger made around $5500 worth of improper payroll disbursements, and cost the city about $2700 in penalties and interest due to improper filing of tax forms. Copies of his report have been filed with the Marion County Attorney’s Office, DCI, and the Attorney General’s Office. Marion County Sheriff Ron Goemaat tells KNIA/KRLS News that he has not yet been asked to investigate the incident.
