This weekend we received our first real snowfall. The wet heavy snow made roads treacherous and gave people plenty of snow clearing work. More snow could be on the way, Kristen Strong a physical therapist at Pella Regional Health Center tells KNIA/KRLS News that many people over exert themselves shoveling every year. She says that it’s important to take nice long lunges and lift with your knees to help relieve stress from the spine, and keep proper balance. She also say that its important to take it easy and take small loads at a time. She says that after shoveling if you feel a sharp stabbing or burning pains in your back you may have hurt yourself and should see a doctor.
