The Melcher-Dallas FFA received a large gift from a local farmer and Monsanto. The FFA was given $2500 from the Monsanto Fund as part of the America’s Farmers Grow Communities contest. Rodney Johnson, of Melcher-Dallas, was selected as a winner of that competition, which allows farmers to donate money to their favorite local non-profits. Johnson says he selected the FFA because his life changed when he put on the blue and gold jacket in his youth, adding the FFA grows farmers. Melcher-Dallas FFA advisor Carrie Putz says the award is great recognition of the work their FFA chapter does.
