Though it ended sooner than they would have liked, the 2011-2012 season for the Pleasantville boys basketball team was a special one in more ways than one. Trojans’ head coach Tom Wilkins says the combination of strong senior leadership and talented underclassmen accomplished something special this past season.

“Twenty wins was just icing on the cake. I thought these guys could compete. We had great senior leadership, and we sprinkled in some of those younger kids,” said Wilkins. “I don’t know if I’ve ever coached a harder working team. I don’t know if I’ve coached a team that was as close-knit and played well together; and I just told them that I appreciated them letting me come along for the ride.”

The Pleasantville boys went 20-4 on the season, and Wilkins says he told the team he appreciated them for letting him come along for the ride. In all, the Trojans will lose six seniors to graduation, including leaders Hunter Van Haalen and Collin Thomas.
