The record-breaking temperatures are bringing out the motorcycles. Marion County Sheriff Ron Goemaat reminds motorists to be respectful of motorcycles on the road this year. He tells KNIA/KRLS News that you need to leave more room between yourself and a motorcycle than you would a car because the distance that it takes to stop the two vehicles is quite different.
He adds that you need to be careful at intersections, especially those with obstructions to your vision such as utility poles. Sheriff Goemaat says that it’s easy to not notice a motorcycle behind something like that. He also says to give plenty of room as you pass them.
