An improbable comeback and a separate offensive outburst each helped the Central College baseball team secure victory, as the Dutch defeated Wartburg 9-6 in the first game of Saturday’s Iowa Conference doubleheader, then throttled the Knights 13-3 in the nightccap.

Trailing Wartburg 6-4, the Dutch rallied to tie the game at 6-6 in the final inning, only to have Seth Carson rip the team’s second home run of the season over the left field wall for a dramatic 9-6 walk-off win.

The second game had much less drama, as a nine-run second inning by the Dutch quickly put away any doubt as to who the victor would be. The pair of wins put the Central College baseball team at 11-3 overall and 2-0 in league play. They’ll conclude their series with Wartburg this afternoon at 1:00 p.m. with a single, nine-inning game.
