The PCM Boys track and field team is off to a fast start to the outdoor season, thanks to an impressive outing in Friday’s four-team meet hosted by Roland Story. The Mustangs claimed first place with 78 points, just five in front of the host Norsemen. Hampton-Dumont and Prairie Valley-Gowrie were not far behind, finishing just two points apart from each other for third and fourth place.

Spurring the PCM boys to victory were seven first place finishes. Jordan Van Roekel finished with three gold medals on the day, claiming first in the 400 meter hurdles and anchoring the winning 4×200 and 4×400 meter relay teams. Sean O’Connor earned two golds, capturing the 100 meter dash title and running on the aforementioned 4×200 meter relay team that also included Kody Wilkie and Bo Clymer. Andrew McCarthy, meanwhile, earned an individual gold in the 400 meters and also ran the lead leg in the 4×400 team that included Hutch Burns, Bo Clymer and Van Roekel.

Other first place finishes went to Hunter Reed in the 110 Hurdles and Sam Munson in the Discus. The Mustangs also benefitted from six second place finishes and numerous top six finishes. They’ll be back on the track on Tuesday when they host the PCM Invitational.
