The Friendly Guys and Gals 4-H Club and the Knoxville Rural Fire Department are teaming up this weekend to help clean up the DeWitt Cemetery southwest of Knoxville. Knoxville Township Trustee Janet Ritchie tells KNIA/KRLS News that she’s excited that both groups have taken such an interest in the project. She says that the cemetery has suffered through some vandalism in the past, but they are working hard to keep it up. The oldest grave in the cemetery, according to Ritchie, is from 1853. She also notes that the cemetery does hold some Civil War veterans.
