Straight line winds, not a tornado were the likely cause of damage in the southern part of Marion County last night, including the near or perhaps total destruction of a house in the 1800 block of 150th. Marion County Emergency Management Coordinator Jeff Anderson tells KNIA/KRLS that the National Weather Service has analyzed approximately 50 photos of the scene. Photos show that the debris lies in a straight line with no evidence of rotation/twisting, indicating that a tornado was not likely involved in the destruction.

Golf ball sized hail caused considerable damage to houses in the Attica, Pershing, and Bussey area.
