Many homes across southern Marion County are still assessing the damage after straight-line winds and golf ball-sized hail ripped through the area Saturday night. The home of the Ned Fee family in the 1800 block of 150th PL south of Knoxville had the roof torn off of it and the garage destroyed in Saturday’s storm. No one was injured. Straight-line winds was the likely cause of the damage. The Knoxville Township Rural Fire Department, the Knoxville EMS team, Marion County Emergency Management, and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. The home and the surrounding area was covered with hail, some up to golf ball sized. First responders on scene told KNIA/KRLS News that the Fee family took shelter when strong winds hit. The Red Cross will be assisting the family.

Hail damage was also reported in other communities. One resident of Bussey described the storm and golfball sized hail hitting their house like horizontal bullets. Many homes in the area are damaged, with everything from ripped off shingles to destroyed plants. Many homes had most of the windows on one side of the house broken, roofs damaged, and vegetation shredded. Fortunately, no one was injured. Hail in part this part of the county was ankle deep, and drifted until mid morning. Neighbors checked on each other throughout Sunday, comparing damages and offering help.
