Let’s go racing! The green flag drops for the first time this year tonight at the Knoxville Raceway. General Manager Toby Kruse says that they have a large rookie field making their way through all three classes of sprint cars this year, as well as many of the established veterans.

Opening weekend features a number of events, including a car show and inflatables for the kids starting at noon at the Marion County Fairgrounds. Live entertainment starts at 4pm. It’s also “Race For Your School” night, in which kids get in free with a paid adult admission and school coupon. The Raceway is also donating one-third of those adult admissions to area schools. Hot laps start Saturday at 6:45, and time trials begin at 7:15. As always, you can hear all the race coverage live on 1320 KNIA, 92.1 KRLS, and streaming live at KNIAKRLS.com.
