At Knoxville Hospital and Clinics, David Thomas has been volunteering in the surgery waiting room for the past five years. Thomas welcomes patients and makes sure their family is taken care of during and after procedures. He says that the hospital always treated him well, and he just likes giving back and making things easier for others.

Jennie Just has volunteered at HCI Care Services for 13 years. Every week she spends time with those patients as they reach the end of their lives, helping to make a difference. She also offers support for families following a patient’s death. Volunteer coordinator Rosy Harrington says that her compassion is unending.
