A woman had no serious injuries after an accident where she fell asleep at the wheel Wednesday night. The accident occurred at the 700 block of East Main Street in Knoxville at just after 10:15. The woman was headed west when she apparently fell asleep and drifted across the road. Her car jumped the curb and struck a light pole, knocking it to the ground.

Knoxville Fire and Rescue, Knoxville Police Department, and Mid-American responded to the scene. The woman was treated and released on-scene by Knoxville Rescue. Interim Fire Chief Greg Higginbotham says that Mid-American was called out to help manage the light pole that was knocked down, as it still had power running to it.
