May is Better Hearing and Speech month, a time to raise awareness about speech and hearing disorders and therapy. The Speech Rehabilitation staff at the Pella Regional Health Center say they are a variety of reasons for speech and hearing disorders, but there are also a variety of treatments. They say speech disorders in children can be especially hard to detect because children progress at different rates, but there are some milestone guidelines that can help parents to judge if their child has a speaking disorder. They say to speak with your physician or call them at the Health Center to learn more about those milestones.
