A member of the Knoxville Fire and Rescue Department will be honored by Mercy Hospital in Des Moines next week as an EMS Hero. Ben Truetken is one of 22 people across Central Iowa that will receive the honor next Tuesday. Knoxville Interim Fire Chief and EMS Coordinator Greg Higginbotham says that he nominated Truetken for the award, one that he received back in 2010 himself. Truetken is also a finalist for the Knoxville Fire Chief position.
