Two-time NCAA decathlon champion Ethan Miller of Central College is the Division III men’s field athlete of the year, selected by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Miller captured his second straight decathlon title at the NCAA Championships last week. He racked up 7,017 points and won the event by more than 230 points. It’s Miller’s third overall national title in addition to his 2011 decathlon title and indoor high jump crown. He’s the first back-to-back decathlon champion in Division III since 1999-2000.

Miller, an 11-time all-America honoree, received the same honor for the 2011 indoor season. Earlier this year Miller was tabbed as the USTFCCCA Central Region field athlete of the year for the fifth time overall and was also cited as the Iowa Conference field events MVP for the fifth time overall. Three times this season Miller was named the league’s outdoor field events athlete of the week.

Central finished tied for ninth in the team standings at the national meet, its seventh top-10 finish in the program’s history. The Dutch have won 29 national individual titles, including 13 crowns in men’s track and field.
