[simage=6955,200,y,left] Iowa Secretary of State Matt Schultz visited Knoxville yesterday promoting the “Vote in Honor of a Veteran” program. The program is designed to honor the sacrifices that veterans have made throughout history to protect our freedom, including the right to vote. Schultz says voting is a simple yet powerful way to honor a veteran. You can find out more about the program here.
As part of the program, Schultz explained new ways that the State of Iowa has made it easier for Iowans serving overseas to have their vote counted. Schultz said that legislation passed that makes it legal for all Iowans serving overseas to email and fax their vote in. He adds that when you vote absentee, there is a way on the Secretary of State website in which to track your ballot and ensure your auditor received it.
