Before this week’s Thursdays in Pella, there will be an activity to promote heart health. The event is called “Walk for Your Health” and is sponsored by Pella Regional Health Center. It’s a short walk from the Tulip Toren, around West Market Park and back. Sharalyn Nikkel, Cardiac Nurse at Pella Regional Health Center, says that even light exercise can help to prevent heart disease, which is the leading cause of death in Americans. She says to bring children as well. While they don’t have as high of a risk of heart disease as adults, they will learn healthy habits by watching their parents exercise. The walk starts at 6pm before the Thursdays in Pella in June, with plans to continue the walk through July.
