Multiple fire departments have responded to a structure fire at 909 Highway 14, just south of the Mile-Long Bridge. The fire was first reported just around 3pm; smoke was seen pouring out of the house as flames shot up over the roof. Knoxville City Fire/Rescue, Knoxville Rural Fire, Monroe Fire, Pleasantville Fire, Melcher-Dallas Fire, Prairie City Fire, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Pella Ambulance, and Marion County Emergency Management all responded to the scene. Take caution while using Highway 14 this afternoon, especially the crews continue to fight the fire. Firefighters have been rotating in and out of the fire, trying to stay hydrated on an already hot day. According to Marion County Records, the deed to the house belongs to Michael Van Wyk.
