No one was injured and there was minimal damage after a fire at 3M in Knoxville early Wednesday morning. At just after 2am, the Knoxville Fire Department, Knoxville Rural Fire Department, and Knoxville Police Department responded to a report of a fire at 3M. Interim city fire chief Greg Higginbotham says by the time they got on scene, 3M’s emergency response crew had already put out the fire with a fire extinguisher. The fire apparently started after one of the industrial recirculation fans burned up, causing the filters to catch fire. There was no other damage, Higginbotham says. He adds that 3M’s crew did an outstanding job in response to the fire.
