Marion County is now in an extreme drought, according to the latests USDA Drought Monitor. The rains that the state has begun to see since August haven’t helped much as Marion County joins 70% of the state that also holds this designation. Lower than average rainfall is expected to last throughout the summer, but State Climatologist Harry Hillaker says that pattern should break in the fall.
