The burn ban in Marion County will be lifted as of noon, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. It was originally put in place last month after extremely dry, hot conditions made open burning considerably dangerous. Temperatures have recently cooled to a more seasonable level and the Knoxville/Pella area has seen a little more than 1.5 inches of rain since August began. That’s nearly four times the precipitation that we received last month, though it is still about .35 inches below our normal amount this time of the month.
