The Trial of Patrick Edouard has begun and opening statements have been made by both the defense and prosecution. The statements laid out the arguments each side will make. Prosecutor Laura Roan will attempt to prove that Edouard was acting as a counselor during the alleged actions that occurred between 2003 and 2008. Defense attorney Angela Campbell wants to prove that the women in question had no mental health disorders that would necessitate mental health counseling. Witnesses have begun to take the stand, including some of the women with whom Edouard had an affair. Edouard is charged with multiple counts of sexual abuse and sexual exploitation by a counselor.
