A landscaping project at Knoxville Hospital and Clinics will help the facility’s drainage problems. That’s according to Facilities Director John Gotta. Gotta tells KNIA/KRLS News that they are turning what used to be a retention pond on the southeast part of their campus into an actual pond. He notes that they did have to remove some trees, but each tree will be replaced with another tree somewhere on their campus.
The retention pond was dredged after silt in the pond became an issue. Gotta says that this project, combined with the recent project at the Bessie Spaur Butterfly Garden, will alleviate drainage problems at the hospital. He adds there are also plans to put a sidewalk in along Highway 14. Gotta hopes this will make the area more aesthetically pleasing.
