A group of people who want to bring a dog park to Knoxville will be hosting an organizational meeting tomorrow. A preliminary request to establish such a park at Auld Park was approved by the Knoxville City Council last month. Eileen Mathias says that a dog park allows dogs to properly use excess energy by allowing them to play with other dogs, socialize, and run off the leash. She notes many people with pets live in apartments and don’t have a backyard area where they can turn their dogs loose. The organizational meeting is being hosted by Mathias and Kathy Hardge this Wednesday at Art 101 at 6:30. Mathias hopes to take public input and create some committees so to accomplish requests made by the City Council and continue moving toward the goal of a dog park.
