A rigorous non-district schedule that has been twice as long as many teams see in the beginning of the season has come to an end for the PCM football team, as the Mustangs gear up to begin Class 2A District 6 competition Friday night against Collins-Maxwell/Baxter. PCM head coach Greg Bonnett says he doesn’t expect the schedule to get any easier as he looks ahead to district play, saying his team has their sights set squarely on their upcoming opponent.

“Everybody knows that Bondurant-[Farrar] and Albia are probably considered the ‘top dogs’ right now, but everybody’s good,” said Bonnett. “I’ve seen a little bit of film on CMB – they can move the ball – they’re very similar to us. I think that’s going to be a great match-up, and we’re definitely going to take them first.”

The PCM football team is 1-3 overall following last week’s 41-21 loss at West Marshall. The Raiders also come into Friday night’s game in Monroe carrying a 1-3 overall record.
