Tania Johnson, a 22 year veteran kindergarten teacher in Cedar Rapids is the 2013 Iowa Teacher of the Year, Governor Terry Branstad announced Wednesday afternoon in Cedar Rapids. Two Marion County educators were also honored among the five finalists for the award. Matt Heston, a math teacher at Knoxville High School and Joshua Steenhoek, a 5th grade math and science teacher at Jefferson Intermediate School in Pella were also recognized. A ceremony honoring the teachers will be held October 26 at the Science Center of Iowa.
