Soccer, tennis and golf programs from Central College all competed in their respective venues over the weekend. Here’s a look at some of the highlights for the Dutch.

Central College’s Taylor Hill fired an even-par 72 to finish in a tie for second place at the Illinois Wesleyan Fall Invitational women’s golf tourney Sunday. Hill claimed runner-up honors after winning the scorecard playoff. She improved her first-round score by six strokes and climbed from 15th to finish with 78-72—150. Hill was two shots behind the medalist from Olivet College. The Dutch finished with 342-343—685. Kelsey Van Tasell (sophomore, Pella) had 90-85—175, Complete standings were not available. Central travels to Cedar Falls next weekend for an 18-hole dual against William Penn University at the Pheasant Ridge Golf Course, the same course the Dutch will play the following weekend for the first two rounds of the Iowa Conference tournament.

Central College built a two-goal lead and hung on for a 2-1 women’s soccer win at St. Mary Saturday. The Dutch (5-2) travel to Orange City Tuesday for a matchup against Northwestern College.

Surrendering a last-minute goal, the Central College men’s soccer team was shut out by Elmhurst College Saturday, 1-0. In the 89th minute, Elmhurst scored the game’s lone goal. Central (2-4-1) was outshot 20-11. Friday the Dutch play host to Luther (4-0-2) in their first Iowa Conference match of the year at 4 p.m. at the A.N. Kuyper Athletics Complex field. Last season Central lost 2-0 to the Norse.

Central College improved to 5-1 with a pair of lopsided women’s tennis wins Saturday as the Dutch swept Monmouth College 9-0 and rolled past Knox College 8-1. Four players collected four wins throughout the day. Freshman Angie Allgood led the Dutch with two victories at No. 1 singles and teamed with Megan Davis for two wins at No. 1 doubles. Allgood posted a 6-0, 6-0 shutout against Monmouth. Central travels to Fort Dodge Tuesday for a dual against Buena Vista University. The Dutch edged the Beavers 5-4 last year.
