Pella resident Beverly Joan De Ronde will appear in US District Court today. She has been federally indicted on 12 counts of mail fraud after prosecutors say she borrowed $730,000 from nine separate friends and relatives before filing for bankruptcy in 2010. De Ronde told those she borrowed from in handwritten letters that she wanted to buy a gift for her husband. She is set for an arraignment at 2pm. If found guilty, De Ronde will have to pay the amount of the loans to the US Government, as well as forfeit any property obtained with the borrowed money. KNIA/KRLS will bring you more information when it becomes official.
