Central College held their spot in the second week of the regional men’s cross country rankings produced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The Dutch checked in at the No. 3 spot in the Central Region for the second consecutive week after being ranked sixth in the preseason poll. St. Olaf and Loras held onto the top two spots, while Iowa Conference rivals Luther and Wartburg checked in at fourth and fifth respectively.

The Dutch men have opened their 2012 campaign with a flurry of success. The squad easily won their home invitational September 1st and followed up with a convincing victory in a 13-team field at the Grinnell Les Duke Invitational September 8th over several regionally-ranked opponents. Central also cracked the USTFCCCA national rankings for the first time in program history last week, debuting at No. 27. The Dutch were idle last weekend, but will return to action with a partial men’s squad at the Grand View Invitational Friday.
