15 citations were handed out to minors in possession of alcohol after law enforcement broke up a large party in northwest Marion County. At about 10:30 Friday night, the Marion County Sheriff’ s Office received a report of a large underage party in the 400 block of Carpenter Street. That’s located just north of the west edge of the lake, a few miles southwest of Monroe. When they and other agencies arrived, several vehicles were observed along with approximately 50 people standing around a fire. Officials remained at the location until all those who had been drinking were taken from the site by sober drivers. Five juveniles were transported to the Sheriff’s Office until their parents arrived to pick them up.

The other agencies involved in the citations include the Iowa State Patrol, Iowa DNR, Marion County Conservation, Army Corps of Engineers, Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, and Monroe Police Department .
