The PCM Mustangs rallied in the 4th quarter Friday night, but came up just short in a 35-28 loss at Albia. After stopping the Blue Demons from adding another score, Mustangs’ quarterback Nate VandeWall hit Ethan Kain on a 41-yard connection to place PCM at midfield with time for one final play. That final attempt was knocked to the ground by an Albia defender, allowing the Blue Demons to hang on for the seven-point win. VandeWall finished with 24 completions on 51 attempts and 403 passing yards. That brings his season total to an impressive 1,912 yards. Kain finished with ten catches for 141 yards and two scores. The loss leaves the Mustangs 3-4 overall and 2-1 in Class 2A District 6. PCM now returns home for their next two games – starting Friday against Clarke.
