The Lady Dutch volleyball team will be looking for some momentum heading into their October 22nd Class 4A Volleyball Regionals match at Newton when they travel to play Little Hawkeye Conference rival Norwalk tonight. Pella just recently pushed their record to over .500 for the first time since the beginning of the year this past Saturday at their invitational tournament with wins over North Mahaska, Greene County, PCM and Knoxville. Pella volleyball head coach, Catie Brand, said that recent opponents are helping put finishing touches on how her team prepares for the regional tournament later this month. “I think the games that we’ve had this month have helped us focus on the areas of our game that we need to continue to develop as we look towards the postseason,” Brand said. “We want to finish the conference with a strong, winning record, so we definitely are looking at these next couple of games to improve our record.” Coach Brand also said her goal is to finish in the top half of the Little Hawkeye Conference standings, and a win tonight would guarantee that happening. The Lady Dutch are 16 – 15 on the season while the Warriors are 8 – 12. Both teams sport a 2 – 2 record in inter-conference play. Lady Dutch volleyball starts at 5:30 p.m. tonight with the JV games, and the varsity games to follow at around seven.
