Starting the season 0 – 6 and finally winning their first game, you may raise an eyebrow to the fact that Coach Gabe Bakker mentioned that being “over-anxious” and getting a big head would be a concern for his team heading into their week eight match against North Mahaska. But if you look at the rest of the Trojans’ schedule, you can see why some of Pleasantville’s players may feel that way. Their remaining games are against two teams with a combined record of 3 – 11, much easier on the eyes than the 22 – 6 record of the teams they started their district play against earlier this season. “We don’t want to be over-confident, because in a football game, there’s a lot of things that can happen,” Trojans head coach, Gabe Bakker said. “But we also want to have that attitude that we’re going to go and we’re going to win. They need to believe it and the coaches need to preach it. I think right now I think the kids have that belief, and we’re going to keep trying to build on that.” If the Trojans can win out, they would assure themselves 5th place, which isn’t a bad “consolation prize” considering how their season started.
