The second debate between President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney was held last night. This debate was a town hall style meeting, where the undecided voters asked the candidates questions. Political psychology expert Randall Renstrom at Central College says that Mr. Obama’s showing at last night’s debate was a complete turnaround from their first debate. He says Obama was sharp, assertive, and at times combative. Obama did not hesitate to bring up issues he passed up in the previous debate, such as women’s rights and the “47%” comments. Renstrom says that the polls will likely remain close as Romney held his own, tying as many questions as he could to the economy. Renstrom did notice a stumble on Romney’s part, where he said President Obama did not acknowledge the incident at the US Embassy in Libya as a terrorist attack, when Obama in fact did. Renstrom says that Romney will get the chance to repair that misstep in the next debate, which will focus exclusively on foreign policy.
