The Knoxville School Board approved an application to join the South Central Conference during their regular meeting yesterday evening. The board passed it with a 4-0 vote – board member Stephanie Vickroy was absent. The application will be to join the South Central Conference beginning in the fall of 2014. It still must be approved by members of the South Central Conference. Knoxville’s Certified Enrollment was also released. It’s down around 53 students to about 1819.
Future enrollment figures was often cited as among the biggest reasons for the move. Knoxville’s declining enrollment trend is expected to continue, while schools like Norwalk, Pella, and Oskaloosa are expected to remain stable or grow.
