The Pella City Council met in special session yesterday to discuss an Electric Cost of Services Study. The study deals with electric rates and how they will have to change in the future based on cost for the city and Missouri River Energy Services. A representative from Missouri River Energy Services presented the idea of having higher costs for electric rates in the Summer months in an effort to cut down on energy waste, while balancing out the higher summer rates with lower rates the rest of the year. The council expressed their interest in the seasonal rate plan and will discuss it at future meetings.
