The drought continues to recede across Iowa according to this weeks USDA Drought Monitor, and for the first time since the drought’s peak, Marion County is seeing some relief. The county had been almost entirely in extreme drought up until this week. Now severe drought, the middle of the road for drought designations, is pushing across the county from the West. There was a 10% drop in extreme drought across the state, though the entire state is still in some level of drought designation.
