A fire in Knoxville destroyed a kitchen earlier this evening. Knoxville Fire Captain Ben Truetken tells KNIA/KRLS that a resident at 902 West Main St. was burning candle wax on a stove top and left it unattended. The wax ignited and severely damaged much of the kitchen. Knoxville City Fire and Knoxville Rural Fire crews were able to contain the flames mainly to the kitchen. There was no visible damage to the exterior of the home, but Truetken says the kitchen is a total loss and there smoke damage throughout. There were no injuries, and fire crews were able to rescue a cat from the home as well.
