The Central men jumped out to a big first half lead, and the women had last second free throws go their way for a change, as both basketball teams snapped their three game losing streaks Wednesday in victories over AIB. The men led AIB 50 – 34 at the half thanks to shooting better than 63 percent from the field. Four Dutch men ended in double figures, led by Matt Greenfield, who had 16 points and 12 rebounds, and Jacob Winkler who had 14 points and grabbed 15 boards. For the women, they trailed by one with under 30 seconds to play. Following a time-out, they again gave it to Nicole Strasko, who had given the Dutch women the lead in Saturday’s game, and she was able to draw a foul and give her team the lead once again, this time for good. The final score was 68 – 66, and the Central women also had four players in double figures, with Alyssa Schwartz contributing a team-high 17. The men’s record improves to 5 – 3, while the women are now 4 – 3 on the year. Each team will have a few days off before hosting Bethany Lutheran on Saturday; a double-header that will be aired live on 92.1 KRLS.
