The Melcher-Dallas Saints’ basketball teams concluded their four game road swing with losses at Chariton Saturday night. For the boys, the Chargers proved to be too much for them early, as Chariton would win 71 – 45. The majority of Melcher’s points came from Kenneth Waddle and Ross Dawson, who had a combined 40 points. The story of the girls’ game was turnovers by the Saints, giving the ball away over 40 times, in a 48 – 28 final that went Chariton’s way. Saints’ head girls’ basketball coach, Jon Suntken, told KNIA/KRLS Sports, that his girls were panicking, and most of them were unforced errors they were making. MacKenzie Suntken led the Saints in scoring with ten, while Jessi Anderson added nine of her own. The girls’ record falls to 2 – 4 with the loss, while the boys drop to 2 – 3. Each team will conclude their 2012 part of their schedule with a three-game home stand, starting with a visit from Mormon Trail on Tuesday.
