In Pella roads became very icy later in the day yesterday. A Semi Truck jackknifed on highway 163 at about 10:40am. The accident occurred 4 miles east of Pella in the westbound lane. Both westbound lanes were blocked off before Pella Emergency crews were able to clear the scene. Pella Police Chief Robert Bokinsky says that the truck spilled diesel fuel on the roadway, which worsened already slick conditions. The accident was cleaned up by 12:30pm.High winds caused a number of power outages in northern pella and surrounding communities.
