A non-profit group in Knoxville is aiming to reopen the theatre on the downtown square. The Grand Theater Foundation wants to refurbish and reinvigorate the theater, combining the past with the future. The Grand Theater was the original name of the then-playhouse when it opened in 1906. Other rural communities throughout Iowa have done similar things, including an opera house in DeWitt. You can find out more by checking out the group’s Facebook page.
