Central’s women’s basketball team will be looking to continue their hot shooting from Saturday in this evening’s games as they’ll welcome Dubuque into the P.H. Kuyper Gymnasium. The women are coming off of an 81 – 69 victory over Luther on Saturday and will try to even up their conference record at 2 – 2 against a 12 – 3 Dubuque squad that just notched their first victory in the conference over Buena Vista on Saturday. The Dutch will need to slow down the production of Mollie Whiting, who averages close to 20 points per game, and is putting up almost 30 per contest during Iowa Conference games so far. The Central men are still trying to put it all together for 40 minutes, as they are winless so far in league play. Coach Craig Douma said that he wants his guys to win more of the “50-50” battles on the boards, and if they can do that, they should have a pretty good shot at winning. The Spartan men are 12 – 2 overall and 2 – 1 in the league, and have relied heavily on their defense to propel them to their start so far, only allowing two teams to score at least 70 points. Tonight’s Iowa Conference doubleheader tips off at 6:00 p.m.
