It appears the Bluegrass Conference tournament did some good for both of Melcher-Dallas’ and Twin Cedars’ varsity basketball squads, as all four teams were able to come away with victories in their games on Tuesday. The Saints’ girls beat Mormon Trail 29 – 24, while the boys toppled the opposing Saints 56 – 44. Kenneth Waddle had 16 points, Ross Dawson bucketed 15 and Chase Wetterling had 12. The girls are now 5 – 10 while the boys improve to 6 – 7. The Sabers breezed by Moravia in their pair of contests. Bussey’s ladies beat the Mohawks for the second time in as many games, 59 – 47. Four starters hit double digits for Twin Cedars, led by Alee Hugen’s 18, Brittney Roby and Payton Fee each had 14, while Ayla Crosby punched in ten. It was a 71 – 22 demolishing handed out by Alan Stewart’s gang to the Mohawks, who improved to 8 – 7, while the Twin Cedars’ girls are 14 – 2. Melcher-Dallas is next in action at home against Lamoni on Friday, and the Sabers will go on the road to play Mormon Trail.
