It was anything but an offensive struggle the second time around for both Central and Coe last night, as the two squads split the postponed doubleheader. The women were tied at 23 at the break, but Central came out and shot 45.5 percent in the final twenty minutes to stun the Kohawks 67 – 58. The Dutch forced 22 Coe turnovers in the game and went 23-of-30 from the line. Their offensive attack was led by Rachel Evans, who scored a career-high 17 points. This was the first win over Coe in six years for the Dutch women, who have also now won 10 games for the first time since the 2003-04 season. Their conference record is now 3 – 6. Central’s men faced another big first half deficit that proved to be too much for them to climb out of, losing 87 – 76 to the Kohawks. The Dutch were 40 percent from the field in the first half, but Coe was able to shoot 63 percent themselves, including draining six of their 12 three-pointers in the game. The men are now 9 – 10 and 2 – 7 in the Iowa Conference. Next up is a doubleheader at home against Wartburg on Saturday.
